Our Aims

Our aims have changed slightly over the years, partly from gaining more insight into the dogs and ourselves. We get so much from the time we spend with the dogs, it is easier to see what matters and what we should be pursuing. As a breeder, you always have the best intentions in place, but people often overlook the character traits being created by mating partners.

Our aims and what matters.

Character as a focus.

We are not immune to being overwhelmed by a striking-looking dog for colour, confirmation, etc when deciding on what could be created, however for us, character is king. Fortunately, with many of the dogs out there, their characters on both sides are still good but this could be jaded if only the colour and extremely low coefficiency are chased.

Intelligent lineage.

Our working line of Retrievers are capable of so much when it comes to basic companionship. To truly make them a working dog you need to focus on switching that element on by nurturing it.

Calm & family-orientated.

With the help of Griff our first WR, we have been fortunate to have the “normal calm house dog” character in all of his offspring. We aim to continue pursuing the calm, social, and confident traits that are more focused on a family dog rather than an extreme working dog.

Red coat & thriving health.

Our dogs are extremely fit, well muscled and are relatively small. Girls might reach 25-27kg as adults and boys could mature to 30kg. The colours are relatively dark gold/red with blonde feather. Coats do vary however as we have witnessed after spending some months in the Highlands.
